Velasco was close to the first win of the season at Tirreno-Adriatico

Gazprom-RusVelo rider Simone Velasco finished third at the sixth stage of the UCI WorldTour race Tirreno-Adriatico.
Simone went in the early breakaway of the 169-km stage and made it to the finish in Lido di Fermo with a group of five escapees.
"Well, it was not bad. I felt good today and was told to try to break away. My legs were in a proper condition and we did a good job to come to the finish ahead of the peloton. I tried my best to win, but it didn't work out. Thanks to my teammates and the whole team Gazprom-RusVelo, we will keep fighting and trying to claim victories!" — said Simone Velasco after the finish.
